Hello and welcome! This is the first attempt at an all-game competition,
courteously judged by the staff here at Dreamscape. The tournament's
got a few different categories available for competition, and a
few sections beneath them. It is organized into two main sets of
competitions, however. The first is for players, and has events
such as 'creative writing,' 'character creation,' etc. The second
is for characters, and has a few requirements (discussed later)
but, basically, you compete with a specific character.
"Full Stats" refers to a
set of information about a character. It includes physical descriptions,
name, age, gender, etc., as well as history and personality descriptions.
I have entered all the forms I have received
on this page. All players are listed beneath the event they are
entered in, and all characters are listed both under their events
and at the bottom. Please review and make sure all is correct.

Creative
Writing: Contestants receive a prompt, and are required
to write a story or piece that meets the requirements of the
prompt.

- story must be no longer than 5000 words

Character
Creation: Contestants create a character, and compete
for who has created the best character. 'Best' is decided by
a panel of judges grading on a rubric.

- Character is graded on creativity, strengths, weaknesses,
abilities, history, personality, and others.

Character Competitions:
Divided into On-Site and Off-Site.
- On-Site Characters must be joined and an active part of one
of the Dreamscape games, and have been a part of that game for
at least a month prior to the tournament. (Scythe players: find
the location of your first post with that character as proof of
presence in that game)
- Off-Site Characters may be from other, non-Dreamscape games,
or may be recently created by their players.
- Most Competitions designed for medieval humans or humanoids.
Sci-fi and Vampyre competitions where noted.
- Powerplaying will result in immediate disqualification, and
godplaying will result in your character being marked down.
- All Characters must follow Dreamscape rules for behavior, meaning
no profanity, no pornography, etc., etc.

On-Site
Competitions: |
Off-Site
Competitions: |
Medieval
Fighters: Much like a traditional, round-robin tournament.
Each fighter will fight every other fighter once. Whether they
win or lose depends on their roleplay, not just on their character
and fighting skills. Whoever has the most 'wins' at the end
of the tournament will win this competition.
Rules:
- May be of any gender, persuasion, etc., but must use conventional,
medieval weapons. No magic.
- Any skills your character has must be backed up either
by history, or common sense. A battle-hardened thirty-something
warrior will have plenty of skill but less agility, for
instance.
- Characters must submit a full stats prior to competition.

(On- and Off-Site
both)
Medieval Scenarios: Contestants
are grouped together into one set, and a situation is given
as a lot. The different characters are given different roles
that they must act out. Characters are judged on how well
they play their role, and how well they play their character
within the role.
Rules:
- Characters must submit full stats prior to competition.
- A selection of three scenarios, based on character type,
are available for entry. Roles will be assigned within each
scenario, based to some extent on the history submitted
(for instance, if yours is a warrior, they will likely get
a warrior's role.)
- Each character within a scenario will be ranked, compared
with their fellow competitors.

Sci-Fi
and Vamp Scenarios: Same as the Medieval Scenarios; there
will be a category for Sci-fi and Vamp characters, and different
choices within those for different character types.

Medieval
Special Weapons Fighters: Similar to the Medieval Fighters
competition, though each character may have a special weapon,
such as a trident, a net, or something otherwise unusual.
Rules:
- May not use magic.
- Must submit a full descritpion of the special weapon prior
to competition. Weapon may have one special ability of reasonable
proportions. Meaning, you cannot have the world's most deadly
poison on your weapon, nor can you have one that fells your
opponent at a touch. Be reasonable.
- Must submit full stats prior to competition.
|
|
Hand-to-Hand
Fighters: May be of any genre, similar to the other Fighters
competitions. No weapons of any persuasion. Whatsoever.
Rules:
- No magic, no weapons.
- Must submit full stats prior to competition.
